CREW.
Maricla Pannocchia - producer, screen writer, co-director
She started writing her own plays and novels when she was a child. She was born to be a story teller and loves words and the power they can have. Being very creative, she often has ideas that pops up in her mind for creative projects that could lead to much needed awareness for childhood and teenage cancer. After seeing many videos on Youtube of real parents who putted them up to show the world the impact a DIPG diagnosis has on a child and his/her family and after following different Facebook pages on this type of brain cancer she had the idea to produce a very short film to let people know about this type of cancer that, being considered rare, most of us have never heard before. The idea for the film appeared in her mind, like when you read a good book and you're able to see what's happening. Then she needed crew and cast members to make that idea a reality and thanks to everyone who jumped aboard this project that idea is now a reality. She is the published author of the novel "Le cose che ancora non sai" (the things you don't know yet), available in Italy only, which talks about the friendship among two Scottish teenage girls, one of which has been diagnosed with leukaemia. Writing this book in 2014 lead her to set up her own charity Adolescenti e cancro (Teens and Cancer) that provides free recreational and peer to peer support to teens and young people aged 13-24 years old who have or have had cancer as well as working hard throughout the year to bring much needed childhood and teenage cancer awareness. She hopes this is just the first of a long series of creative projects that can embrace any platform and media in order to encourage people - especially those who never experienced the reality of childhood or teenage cancer - to understand better this reality, these kids and young people struggles, how such diagnosis affect families, friends and communities and how we all can do our small part in helping. If you're interested in helping Maricla develop any of her upcoming creative projects to bring childhood cancer awareness or if you have your own creative project about this cause and every aspect of it, please get in touch: [email protected]
